Top chefs and restaurants from all over NY’s Capital Region gathered at the 7th Annual timesunion.com/Table Hopping Mac & Cheese Bowl this past Saturday. Proceeds from the popular event, held this year at Siena College’s Marcelle Complex in Latham, NY, will once again benefit the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.
This year’s winner, taking both the people’s choice and judge’s trophy were perennial favorites, Druthers Brewing. Their unique spin on everyone’s favorite comfort food was a fried mac-n-cheese ball made with chicken and seven different cheeses smothered in a delicious gravy, all over a red waffle! Second place went to Wolff’s Biergarten with their bacon and cheese blend, and Valente’s Restaurant took third with their crowd favorite Three Little Pigs Mac-n-Cheese. Mazzone Hospitality once again took the prize for best display and Albany’s Stephanie Espinal took home the trophy in the “home cooked” category.
Preliminary numbers indicate a total attendance for the event to be around 2,500 people and a total of approximately $50,000 was raised for the Regional Food Bank. If you were unable to attend this year’s event but would still like to donate to the Regional Food Bank, please visit their website.
