The buzz around town had been you need to check out this place! I thought, “What’s all the hype about? It’s a sandwich shop.” Well where do I start? What a neat little funky sandwich shop. All Fed Up in Cicero is filled with décor from the 50’s. The walls are packed with interesting art and have neat signs to read. All which are for sale. It was small but plenty of seating, very clean and the staff was inviting. Very friendly and outgoing. The place was hopping. And I wanted to see why.
The menu is loaded with something for everyone. From soups and salads to wraps, burgers, sandwiches and “paniniz” as the menu says. It was tough to decide which way to go. Everything sounded great. After reading through, I found one that called my name. So we stepped up to the counter and placed our order. I decided to try “The Beef & Blue”. It’s shaved roast beef with caramelized onions & crumbly blue cheese on sourdough. I added a side of fries and of course I went with one of those fancy glass soda bottles. It just felt right. Its like the 50’s came to me and said go with the glass bottle soda. It was fitting.
My husband ordered the special of the day. It was a Chicken Sandwich with bacon and honey mustard on a ciabatta roll along with a side of fries. He didn’t go with the fancy soda like I did. Instead he went with a Arizona Tea. We paid for our order and then went into the dining room and found the first open table. I couldn’t help but feel like I was back in time sitting at my grandparents’ metal dining table. It was comforting. As we sat and waited for our food we couldn’t help but read all the signs on the walls and have a few laughs. Before we knew it, the friendly counter girl brought us our food.
I decided to try the husband’s sandwich first. In my mind it was “save the best for last.” What a joke that was. This sandwich was so good! I couldn’t get over it. I had to take another bite. The ciabatta roll was soft and tasted fresh. The chicken was cooked perfectly. It was juicy. The bacon was crisp and not full of grease and the honey mustard was lite. Not over powering. I was starting to question my choice. But then I took a bite of my sandwich and, well, I changed my mind. The roast beef was perfect. Not dry. The caramelized onions were sweet and loaded with lots of flavor and top it off with some blue cheese, brought this sandwich to perfection. Every bite was perfect. It had the right amount of everything on the bread. No sauce needed. I then tried my fries. They were crunchy and cooked perfect. No complaints there. Perfect side to my sandwich. Add a sip of my Black Cherry Soda in the glass bottle and it was the perfect lunch. Best part about “All Fed Up” everything is homemade with Local ingredients! Such a great sandwich joint I can’t wait to go back!
