This weekend, for FREE, May 5-7, located about 15 minutes from Binghamton, for FREE, Raibred will hold their 2nd annual Raifest, for FREE, including camping. Raifest will feature 2 days of music and 6 SETS of Raibred, including a late night performance of Pink Floyd’s Animals album. Did we mention this is all FREE?!?
What the hell is a Raibred? More than just moldy bread that will make you see things (their name is pronounced rye-bread). They are an uber talented progressive psychedelic jam rock band from Binghamton that is headed to a lot of good places. These young guys have been playing together for years, and sound like they’ve been down the road and back. They are super tight and play purposeful music, full of worthwhile and meaningful jamming. They aren’t just noodling for nothing. Read my review HERE when I discovered Raibred for myself, last year.
Yes, they are THAT good that they can hold their own festival, for the 2nd year, featuring 6 full sets of Raibred! They have a ton of originals, they are always sharing something new, and are very well verse in all the essentials. I have no clue what their setlist is gonna be, but I bet in between originals that make your insides happy, you may hear some moe., Umphreys McGee, or Traffic. I’ll even go so far as to wager on maybe some Gorillaz.
Also performing across the 2 days will be fellow CNY jammers Honker, Ultra Vibe, Astro Collective, Homebrew, and The Goodfruits. Homebrew is a side project of Raibred guitarist, Nate Calzetoni. They are a Grateful Dead tribute band and will be recreating the first set of the famous Cornell show from 5/8/77. Honker guitarist, Tim Linkroum, will be joining Raibred for a special late night Pink Floyd set starting around midnight Saturday.
Here is the skinny on the 2nd Annual Raifest – Cost is FREE and includes camping. It is a friendly 2 day gathering among friends on private land, about 15 minutes outside of Binghamton. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for an address. There will be NO FOOD OR DRINK VENDORS, so bring whatever food or drink necessities your heart desires. There WILL be porta-potties. One request they do have – bring a couple few logs for a community campfire if you can. More information at https://raibred.com/ or on the event page link below.
