Between Rochester and Syracuse, you may feel like the sheepdog on Looney Tunes this weekend – “Which way do I go? Which way do I go?” So many good things to do. Here’s some of our picks for the weekend. Each of these bands will show you ONE HELL of a good time at each of these events!
Friday – Primate Fiasco w/s/g Big Sexy and the Scrambled Eggs @ Funk n’ Waffles Downtown Syracuse – Electronica, Funk, Rock, Blues, Jam, Psychedelia . . . all of the above. Good luck slapping a label on these two bands. Hands down, two of our favorites not to miss!
Saturday – Sophistafunk w/s/g Chris Eves and the New Normal @ Funk n’ Waffles Downtown Syracuse – Hip Hop, Jam Band, Funk, Blues, and Rock. Neither of these bands need an introduction. Sophistafunk will funk your booty. Chris Eves will rock you and touch your inner child with some classic covers.
Saturday – Night of Fright, featuring Barroom Philosophers, Formerly Unnamed, and Late Earth @ the Palace Theatre in Eastwood. These 3 bands will rock your bones. Barroom Philosophers are one of the hottest things going right now in CNY. Rock, Reggae, Blues – yep, yep, and yep!
Saturday – Cirque Du Big Mean: Big Mean Sound Machine’s Halloween Bash feauturing Big Mean Sound Machine, Primate Fiasco, Personal Blend, and Root Shock @ Funk n’ Waffles Music Hall Rochester. What a lineup! I don’t know if FnW Music Hall can contain the amount of music that will be pouring out of these bands Saturday. This is a collection of some of the biggest and best talents of the region. Wear your finest circus attire. Should be a packed house full of good times!
Saturday – Blind Owl Band’s Halloween Bash and Album Release Party w/s/g The Honey Smugglers and the Folkfaces @ Anthology Rochester. If bluegrass and folk music are your pleasure, then Anthology is your place Saturday. Go down and celebrate Blind Owl Band’s latest album release.
There is only one place to be on Halloween night. Saratoga Springs’ Putnam Den will feature a special Halloween performance by jam band super kings Dopapod. Celebrating the release of their brand new album, Megagem, this will be one of the few Upstate NY performances before they take a year long hiatus for 2018. You will want to get your booty to Saratoga Springs. One can only assume under the circumstances that they plan to leave it all on the stage.
There is plenty of other live music going on all over Upstate, beyond our picks here. Be safe, have fun, and see as much music as you can this Halloween!
